Red Rocks Community College’s Medical Office Technology Programs are tailored for aspiring Administrative Health Career Professionals who aim to build successful careers in healthcare administration. These programs provide the knowledge, skills, and credentials necessary to excel in roles such as Medical Billing Specialist, Medical Coder, Medical Office Administrator, Healthcare Administrative Assistant, Health Information Technician, and Medical Records Coordinator.

Certificates Offered

Medical Billing and Coding Certificate
• Prepares students to accurately translate healthcare services into billing claims, ensuring proper reimbursement for medical procedures.
• Includes Medical Terminology, Insurance Billing, and Advanced Insurance Billing coursework.
• Students complete either a capstone project or a 135-hour internship.

Medical Office Administration Certificate
• Focuses on medical office operations, including appointment scheduling, patient record management, insurance verification, and office procedures.
• Includes coursework in Medical Terminology and Medical Office Administration.
• Students complete a 90-hour internship to gain real-world experience.

Internship Details
• Internships must be scheduled at least 3 days per week
• Students have the option to establish their own internship site, which must be approved by the Program Director no later than Week 10 of the semester that precedes the internship.
• Criminal background checks and drug screenings (at the student’s expense) may be required for internships.
